ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) is a serious neurological disease that affects the nerve cells responsible for controlling muscle movement. Over time, these nerve cells stop working, causing the muscles in the body to weaken and eventually stop functioning. People with ALS slowly lose the ability to walk, speak, eat, and even breathe on their own, while their mind usually stays fully sharp. There is currently no cure, and treatments can only slow the progression. Because the disease moves quickly and impacts every part of daily life, support and awareness are incredibly important.
